Use Case: Creating SharePoint Governance Policies for Sub Sites

A common SharePoint use case: Your governance board has established a number of policies to help control site sprawl in SharePoint. One of these policies is that Site Administrators can create sub-sites, but they can only go down one level.  The problem is going to be enforcement.

ControlPoint provides the capability to create a policy that enforces this rule in real-time.  This policy can be applied across the farm, on specific web applications, or even on certain site collections.

Step 1: On the left side of your screen, navigate to the right level of your SharePoint environment to where you want to apply the policy, and right click on Create ControlPoint Policy

Step 2: Name your policy, give it a description, and set the appropriate rule including site depth (1 level), and select the users for the policy, then save.
Create automated governance policies with ControlPoint

ControlPoint provides a quick and easy way for you to create automated governance policies through its centralized console. It’s no wonder that ControlPoint is the number one selling administration, governance, compliance and reporting tool on the market.
