Use Case: Auditing Activity on a Document in SharePoint

A common SharePoint Use Case: The CIO walks into the SharePoint Administrators office and asks for a report of any activity for a specific document in the last two weeks.  While the task can be performed in SharePoint by manually sifting through the audit logs, it can be a very time consuming process.

With ControlPoint, audit log analysis is a snap. Within moments, the Administrator can generate a report on anyone who touched that document within the defined timeframe.  The report will show date, user, event, and the exact URL of the item in question.

Step 1: Search for the item in question by using a wildcard in the URL field.  Hit ‘Run Now’ and view results.

Step 2: View results, and export to Excel or PDF to present the data to the CIO.

ControlPoint is the most comprehensive platform on the market for administration, governance, auditing, and reporting, allowing Administrators to define and automate their governance policies quickly and easily. It’s the number one tool in its category, and the most robust toolset on the market.
