Informative SharePoint Slides

Richard Harbridge knows his stuff. His slide show "
The SharePoint Story of Success" posted on SlideShare is worth watching. Running all the way from the general idea to full implementation, Harbridge gives a good outline of how to launch SharePoint within your organization.
Of particular interest are slides 66 to 75, "Tips for getting decision makers to understand the value [of SharePoint]." These are key points to use when convincing your manager to use SharePoint. These include some public statistics including:
- Typical workers produce three gigabytes of data a year
- 30% of a typical workers day is spent searching for information
- In an company with 1,000 employees, lost productivity costs approximately five million dollars a year.
Another key point of interest is how to encourage end user adoption, an often neglected step in the process. Helpful points to remember include:
- Breaking out into useful training sessions (under an hour in length)
- Cultivating the right culture for adoption and usage
- Rewarding super users with achievements
- Making it fun with contests, scavenger hunts and other activities
See all the suggestions for user adoption on slides 119 - 138.
It's not often you come across a set of slides that work well as a stand-alone but this one works.
